It was their grandparents' apple orchard, but yes. At least, until they were called down and instructed to fill so many bushel baskets by day's end. LOL
It's great to see the picture of his older brother. They look like the dynamic duo!! Always wondering if Jack admired his brother and was influenced by him to get the artist bug? Any pictures of Bill's paintings or what he liked to paint? Since they had an art museum together. Bill looked like a down to earth type guy compared to Jack and his dastardly ways!(take that as a lighthearted description).
I knew I remembered something about Jack's badge. I want to add a word of caution about buying Five-0 badges on Ebay. As Jack's letter indicates, very few authentic Five-0 badges were distributed, yet many badges appear for sale. Some sellers are honest and say the badges they are selling are reproductions, but not all. Some represent their badges as the real deal. To be on the safe side, follow advice offered by "Mrs. McGarrett" in an e-mail message to me and ask for a letter of authenticity from the First Hawaiian Bank, which managed Jack and Marie's estate auction.

I would bet when Jack and his brother William got together at their aunt's apple orchard, more apples got thrown than eaten!
You can see some of Bill Ryan's paintings here:
