Congressional Gold Medal for US Merchant Mariners of World War II

Finally! Both houses of Congress have passed bills that will allow our World War II merchant marine veterans to be honored with a Congressional gold medal. It was a hard-fought battle, one that has been waging since the end of that war and, most recently, for several years in a movement spearheaded by the US Merchant Marine Veterans of World War II under Sheila Sova. Sadly, very few of those men are alive today. Even so, their heirs will receive the medal in their mariners' honor.
