Let's Celebrate - Day 6

Writer's picture: H50 1.0 FOREVERH50 1.0 FOREVER

Jack was a merchant mariner in his younger years. From the time he was 14 years old, he spent school holidays at sea, working on cargo ships. During World War II, after President Roosevelt (Franklin, not Theodore) drafted merchant mariners into military service, he served full-time.

So, what is it like, sailing aboard a cargo ship? Let's find out. We'll join Scotsman Steve Marsh as he sails aboard a cargo ship from Aberdeen, Scotland, to Lerwick, Shetland. It's not exactly the Queen Mary, but it got him there and back again.
