Bougainvillea

These beautiful bougainvillea once grew on a hillside on Diamond Head Road just before it becomes Kahala Avenue. A recent YouTube video by Hawaii John reveals that the flowers no longer are there.
The hillside is actually an outer slope on the southern side of Diamond Head.

I think bougainvillea would be pretty in my yard, but the owner of the garden center said we're too far north for them to survive. Sad, but true. My hibiscuses are having a terrible time surviving here.
