Hawai'i Statehood Day

Writer's picture: H50 1.0 FOREVERH50 1.0 FOREVER

"Kuʻu Hae Aloha" (My Beloved Flag), Honolulu Museum of Art, public domain.

Officially, Hawai'i became a state on August 21, 1959; however, Statehood Day is celebrated on the third Friday in August. So, this is Hawai'i Statehood Day.

This beautiful handmade quilt was created in the late-19th century to the early 20th-century by a quilter whose name is unknown to us. How talented s/he was! How much s/he loved her homeland!
