What a Resume!

Kimo Carew and Steve McGarrett lower the boom on Tony Alika (Ross Martin) in "Good Help is Hard to Find" (Season 12). Hawaii Five-0, Leonard Freeman Productions / CBS Television, 1979.

William "Big Bill" Smith acted for 78 of his 88 years. Born in 1933, he appeared in the movie The Ghost of Frankenstein in 1942, when he was only nine years old. His last appearance was in Irresistible in 2020, one year before his death at the age of 88 on July 5, 2021.

He appeared with Jack in three productions:

-- In Stoney Burke, "Point of Entry" (1963), Bill appeared as Lt. Joe Cardiff when he was 30 years old.

-- In Laredo, "Above the Law" (1966), he appeared as Lt. Joe Cardiff when he was 33 years old.

-- During Season 12 of Hawaii Five-0, when he portrayed James "Kimo" Carew, he was 46 years old.

In short, Bill Smith was only halfway through his career when he appeared on Five-0. Throughout his career, he appeared in 276 productions. Most impressive, don't you think?
