Tripler Army Medical Center

Tripler Army Medical Center played a more active role in Jack's life than it did on Hawaii Five-0. Even so, it made a noticeable appearance in the episode "Murder -- Eyes Only" (Season 8). Marcia Bissell (Donna Mills) was taken there after she was injured by an exploding letter bomb in CDR Nordoff's office.

In real life, Jack was a leader of the No Greater Love program at Tripler. Sponsored by the Veterans Administration, the program honored the hospitalized veterans for their service. The program took its name from the Bible: "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13). No Greater Love was a cause in which Jack believed strongly. After all, his own ship was torpedoed in the Mediterranean Sea during World War II. He knew what it was like to come home bearing the scars of war.

Jack was honored by the No Greater Love program in 1977 (photographer unknown).
