David Keith McCallum was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on September 19, 1933. His father played first violin in the London Symphony Orchestra. David played the oboe and arranged popular tunes to reflect his own style.
As if that weren't enough, he went on to become a highly regarded actor. He is perhaps best remembered for his roles as Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard, the medical examiner, on the original NCIS, although he gained enormous popularity as agent Illya Kuryakin on the 1960s spy thriller The Man from UNCLE.

Also in the 1960s, Mr. McCallum released three LPs, featuring his arrangements of well-known melodies. Here are two of his arrangements as he directed them:
Mr. McCallum was 90 years, 6 days old when he passed away of natural causes at the New York Presbyterian Hospital on September 25, 2023. Rest in peace, sir. We will miss you.
What a handsome picture! I was such a fan of "Man from UNCLE" when I was a child. He was a looker then and also more recently in his NCIS role. I'm also impressed by his background in music. He certainly lived a full and interesting life. David McCallum will certainly be missed. RIP
PS It might be fun to bring together Dr. Mallard and Dr. Bergman in the fan fiction world!
And as if acting and making music weren't enoug,h McCallum wrote "Once a Crooked Man", a highly enjoyable crime story with touches of humour and black comedy.
