Just made it under the wire to post about this one! I guess I’m in the minority about Danny’s wardrobe in the opening scene. I’ve always loved his sartorial choice here. Camel and gray is a favorite combo of mine and that camel hair cashmere jacket is so beautiful. I figured we never saw it again as it was just too warm for Hawaii’s climate, but I’ve always loved seeing it in this episode. I looked up the cost of the carp that Kono mentions having sold in 67 for $17,000 on the inflation calculator. That’d be over $139,000 in today’s money. Puts the theft into perspective. This was one of the episodes I thought made S1 great and really…

No criticism of Danny's fashion choice, it's just unusual for the show. The color of the jacket does suit him nicely! But I can imagine Kono and Chin teasing him about the combo, asking if he got dressed in the dark or something like that.

Yes, I would definitely love a time machine! I haven't been to Hawaii since 1975, and I'd like to go back to 1975 Hawaii. Not sure I want to go to present day Hawaii. Have a wonderful week!

Many thanks to those who participated in this short week's challenge. You made outstanding comments about the ordeals of Benny Apa and John Hayes. I was glad the DA decided to charge Benny with involuntary manslaughter and not first-degree murder. I hope John decided to follow McGarrett's suggestion and teach in Indonesia. There's so much emotion in this episode.

“Pray Love Remember”

(not to be confused with “Eat Pray Love”)

I agree with H5O, this is an excellent episode! It is interesting that there is more than the usual dose of humor in such a tragic story, from Kono’s “dainty little feet” to the “bucket” scene in Steve’s office. I love Kono explaining to Danny how expensive the koi fish are – “Them carp really cost!”

But there is a lot of heart break, too. Mira, a student at the Pacific Cultural Institute, has been killed. John Hayes has lost the woman he loved and intended to marry and is being accused of her murder. Turns out that Mira was killed accidentally by Benny Apa, a huge but simple-mind…

Dear God yes. There’s a quick change in “Killer Bee” where both Danny and Steve have on different suits while they drive to a witness’ house. Drives me nuts bcuz the driving scene adds nothing and there was no reason to insert it.

The Humor in

“Pray Love Remember”

(Season 1)

“Pray Love Remember” covers the details of a heartbreaking, unintentional murder. Even so, the early investigation raises several humorous issues surrounding an indentation of a size 15 shoe and a round indentation measuring 11-3/4 inches across.

Preliminary investigation reveals a size 15 shoe print beside the koi pond. The scene was filmed at the real-life Byodo-In Temple in Kaneohe. The shoe size raises considerable humor among the detectives. First, when McGarrett asks Kono what size shoe he wears (Size 13), Kono replies, “I have tiny little feet.” Upon hearing the physical description of Mira Bai’s (uncredited) boyfriend, McGarrett says, “Nobody’s 25, blond-haired, blue eyed, strong as a bull, and six-feet-six. They must…

The "bucket" scene is one of my "all-seasons favorite" Five-0 scenes and I like the other humorous moments you mentioned.

A very impressive , yet bittersweet scene occurs at the end after John Hayes is realeased from jail.

He wants to go to Washington to teach because now that Mira is dead there is no reason for him to go to Indonesia. But Steve sets him on the right path telling him that he could teach in Indonesia as well as in Washington. I'm sure he has in mind that in a way Mira left him legacy he should accept.

And of course there is beautiful Byodo-In-Temple that today you can hardly see for all the cars and tour buses…
