Two ladies about 25 years apart in age were ardent fans of Hawaii Five-0. Maybe they rather were ardent fans of Jack Lord / Steve McGarrett? Could be, but that’s not important for what I’m going to talk about.
One of Five-0’s episodes is called “Over Fifty? Steal” (Season 3). In it Lewis Avery Filer, the thief, robs a jewelry exchange and steals tanzanites, among other precious stones. One of the scenes these ladies loved most was when Filer, in disguise, showed one of the tanzanites to McGarrett, mumbling what a beautiful stone tanzanite is – then escaped, faking being unwell.
One Christmas Eve, the younger lady found a small box under the Christmas tree. On opening it, she found within it a ring with a tiny tanzanite stone set in silver.
The older lady passed away many years ago, and the younger lady is not young anymore, either – but Hawaii Five-0, Jack Lord, and Steve McGarrett will be forever young.
Note: Steve's Girl has informed me that this is biographical. Her mother is the older lady; she is the younger lady.
