Jack's "Sand Island" Lithograph


After watching several videos, I’m still unconvinced that Jack’s lithograph, Sand Island, shows Block Island, Rhode Island. True, the architectural styles are similar, but the same styles can be found anywhere in New England.


When I consider the fact that the buildings on Block Island are old enough to have been there when Jack visited in the 1940s, I am inclined to retain my earlier impression that his work depicts a New England farmhouse and barn, connected to allow the farmer to work in the wintertime without having to go out in the snow. Take a look at the cover photograph on a book that is being offered for sale to see what I mean.
