One of the stars of the pilot episode of Hawaii Five-0, "Cocoon," was Coast Guard Cutter Cape Corwin (USCGC 95326).

Cape Corwin appeared in her gray-and-white livery in "Cocoon" (Leonard Freeman Productions / CBS Television, 1968).

She appeared in seven episodes in Seasons 6, 8, 9, and 10. In those episodes, she wore a new livery that is still being used today.

Cape Corwin wore her new livery in all appearances after "Cocoon." (Leonard Freeman Productions / CBS Television, 1976).

So popular was she from her appearances on Hawaii Five-0 that Coast Guardsmen who served on her called her Cape McGarrett.

She was decommissioned by the Coast Guard in April 1990 and transferred to Micronesia in September of that year.

"Cape McGarrett" - what a lovely idea! And a homage in a way.
