Queen's Retreat, where then-Princess Liliuokalani wrote "Aloha Oe," has burned to the ground in what is a case of suspected arson. Sadly, the historical residence had not been maintained, either by the State of Hawaii or its owners. That, of course, invited illegal activities to take place on the premises, and they resulted in the fire.
Oh, how sad! The photo of the building covered with graffiti really hurt. Why do people do that? I'll never understand. And now it's gone.
