On August 16, 2015, Marie would have celebrated her 110th birthday. We gave her a birthday party that allowed her to model her favorite fashions for us. Actually, we picked out our favorites of her fashions and pretended that she was modeling them for us -- but who's quibbling over the fine points. Right? Here are some of the ensembles we like:
Marie is seen wearing a colorful skimmer featuring a mandarin collar and a cinched waist. It is one of her own designs in a style she used often when making her clothes for public appearances in the Islands. She is wearing it with a pink feather cloach, a millinery style that enjoyed popularity in the early 1960s.
Marie is seen at the premiere of Hawaii Five-0 in March 1968. She is wearing a brocade skimmer with a mandarin collar, a matching tie at the waist, and gently flared sleeves.

Yet again, Marie has chosen a slim skimmer with a mandarin collar. A pattern in the fabric picks up her favorite color -- pink!
Here, we see Marie wearing a necklace that Jack designed. She is seen wearing it in several photographs. No doubt, it was one of her favorites.
Who could ask for a better match than an artist and a fashionista!
