This just in from Honu:

A while back  you asked me to post information on the James G. MacArthur Young Actor Award.  I've heard from the Hawaii Theatre Center that this year, they were able to award two $500 scholarships to two promising young actors from this award.  Wonderful news! I've copied the original article about the award from the Theatre's newsletter - at the end there are instructions about how to contribute:

From the March/April 2011 issue of Front Row Center:

Hawaii Theatre Center has established the James G. MacArthur Young Actor Award to commemorate the actor’s long-time support of the Hawaii Theatre Center and his deep connection to the Hawaii community, which began in 1968 with his starring role as Danny “Danno” Williams in the original Hawaii Five-O television series.

The award, which includes a cash prize, will be presented by Hawaii Theatre Center each year to a Hawaii student who demonstrates excellent theatrical talent and promise for future success in theater.

“In looking for an appropriate way to perpetuate the memory of James MacArthur, including his early success as a young actor and his long association with the Hawaii Theatre, we felt it was fitting to establish an award that recognizes the talent of a promising young Hawaii actor,” said Hawaii Theatre Center President Sarah Richards.

Checks payable to Hawaii Theatre Center may be mailed to:

Hawaii Theatre Center - 1132 Bishop Street, Suite 1404 - Honolulu, Hawaii  96813

Please make a notation on the check, “In Memory of James G. MacArthur”.
