Mini-Challenge : Jack's Words of Wisdom

Posted by H5O 1.0 FOREVER on May 15, 2018 at 5:35 AM

In his many interviews, Jack offered many words of wisdom. Some related to his own lessons learned. Others seemed to derive from his personal observations. Each and every one was inspiring.

Tell us which one has touched you the most. You can draw from interviews or lines he spoke in roles he played.

Editor's Notes:  Since I still can't leave comments, I'll post my answer here:

I like Jack's talking about how he and Marie were looking for a house to buy in California. After a lengthy search, they settled on a house only to learn that someone else already had purchased it. So, they started looking at lots in order to build a house. The search became thoroughly frustrating, but they kept on looking. And then came the offer to do "Hawaii Five-0." Then, they realized they weren't finding a house in California, because they were meant to leave that area. The lesson was not to force things to happen. If the pieces don't come together on their own, maybe it's because they aren't meant to come together.

Steve's Girl, I also like Jack's comment about not following the crowd.

H50, I also like Marie's and Jack's attitude of not trying to make things happen but waiting until they come to you.
It's like the Chinese saying that happiness will come to him who has patience.

What I find inspiring are the following words Jack spoke during an interview in 1963 (!!):

"There is a terrible tendency to conform today...". "What you have is what you capitalize on it - don't come on like a mass-produced auto part."

It's amazing to "hear" those word at a time when "Social Media" didn't even exist as a word. About a week ago I read that a lot of people go to a plastic surgeon because they don't like how they look on photos posted on Facebook et al. It's frightening. What has this world come to?
